Voidtrecker - The Story So Far
CRAU Personal History: Senku notably arrived in the month of Grasshopper. He first left the train during the Healing Waters event, which was meant to be a relaxing experience. Unable to relax, he set to work preparing himself his standard toolset and beginning his trend of foraging for materials wherever he happened to find himself. He was plagued by a memory share event and left the island with a psychic bond to Eva Iden'no. Asagiri Gen arrived in Horseshoe. Notably the Adventure On mission, Senku got a reputation for pestering wildlife when he had a disagreement with the Huma birds.
In Imagination, Not With A Bang mission found Senku in unexpected combat, and he suffered serious injury. This was the first world where he removed his protective device which was the catalyst to him making it into his pet project to try and understand just what these wrist bands were monitoring, the scope of what they could do. Using himself as a sacrifice for potential repercussions, he caused friction with some of his teammates going forward in his drive to return home. Some friends presented themselves as allies, while others scolded him.
Jelly brought the Fierce New World mission. This was the first mission that Senku actively hated, and a trend towards missions that removed his ability to gather food and supplies for himself and the train. Senku found himself in combat, albeit it was digital combat, meaning that the powers he was gifted through the digital world allowed him not to only survive the experience unscathed, but actually do fairly well. This reignited his drive and curiosity towards magic, and notably, the shop was incredibly generous in gifting him with a mathematically based magic system that he could actually learn.
The Will To Fight, the Kazoo mission, was nothing less than an unmitigated disaster. Senku and Gen both removed their security devices early on and were completely swept up in an illusion for the majority of the mission, not just to their detriment but causing a problem for their teammates. His guilt fueled his recklessness and he made attempts to assist in the final battle through attempting to circumvent the fighting, however the pair were spotted and Gen was seriously injured. Gen extorted a promise that from then on, Senku would use him as a test subject instead of sacrificing himself, in his belief that Senku could fix any problem they came across and therefore he needed to be protected. This led to a lot of tension between the pair and their teammates, going both ways because Senku also felt let down that they didn't have his back.
Late in Kazoo, Senku and Gen married during a small gathering they orchestrated.
Llama brought the mission What Their Eyes See, which in turn, also brought more illusions. His work with his allies paid off, he was able to speak to Anan, a contact from outside the train and he was able to gather the very basics of void travel that the train has been so reluctant to tell them. In the spirit of community and cooperation, Senku attempted to share this information with fellow train denizens but was thoroughly disappointed when he faced backlash for daring to suggest the train had kidnapped them, and may not have great intentions. Senku found himself disheartened and discouraged by the fact that it seems a majority of people are perfectly fine with everything as it is when all he wants to do is go home.
Personality: Senku is a very pragmatic, logically minded individual. He has very little use or desire for sentimentality. At times, however, he slips. This is probably demonstrated best with his relationship with his father. Byakuya understood Senku very well. When given the opportunity to call him from space, he refused because Senku wouldn't be interested in idle chit chat. Senku also didn't attend the launch of his father into space, although he did watch him on TV where he promised he'd bring him back a souvenir from his travels. The recording left behind for Senku had a moment where Byakuya began a sentence like he was going to tell him something sentimental and cut it off exclaiming: "That kind of parental sentiment is so not your style, so let's get down to business." Senku laughed gleefully that Byakuya understood him.
One could be mistaken for thinking he was cold, or perhaps their relationship was distant, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He benefited from Byakuya's unconditional support and a few life lessons, and he supported him in turn. When he discovered the reason Byakuya was rejected from JAXA in the first place, he worked hard to design a way for his father to learn how swim in his clothes and pass the test. While his methods did not work, his unwavering support allowed Byakuya to go for it. When Ruri tells Senku the 100 stories, the final one was a message to him personally, about the gift left for him which was the people in the village. In this moment, alone at his grave, he cried and thanked him for the gift, regardless of the fact he'd died a few thousand years before.
While he often is not sentimental, Senku does care about the people around him. He doesn't try and connect with people on an emotional level, and at times he outright rejects such a discussion, such as when his best friend Taiju excitedly tells him he's ready to confess to the girl he likes. Although phrased sarcastically initially, when he didn't get it, he outright said he wasn't the least bit interested in that. However, he does show he cares through the practical side of things. Scientific advancements allow for him to feed people much more diverse foods, and to bring heating into their homes to allow for a much easier winter. Gestures like those allow other people to have faith in Senku's leadership.
Senku is an unconventional leader. He's less likely to offer stirring motivational speeches that appeal to the feelings of the inhabitants, but rather he offers a look at possibility and opportunity. He demonstrates how he can improve their lives, rather than how to make them feel better. He sounds like an innovator, a dreamer to those who don't know better. At times, people have been very skeptical of him, but every time he delivers he sways people's opinions in his direction. There's a touch of 'mad scientist' to his method, outlandish seeming declarations, but Senku always backs it up with a comprehensive road map regardless of how long that road map may be. From anyone else, such declarations would be seen as madness, such as his current venture, to travel from the Earth to the Moon in this dystopian future. While people still react and consider him to be kind of mad, they also believe in him because of his ability to deliver.
His blunt manner of speaking sometimes leads to misunderstandings. He isn't always considerate, which can lead others to get annoyed with him, especially if they don't understand him or know it's not personal. When he gets excited about something that seems unusual to others, like a deadly chemical, it's very easy to misunderstand his intentions.
Despite all of his pragmatism, he's an idealist. He has faith in humanity and intends to revive every member of the human race, all 7.8 billion of them. He's steadfast in this ideology, and has fought a war to keep Tsukasa from culling the herd. It is likely that it's less because they're human, and more because the challenge is incredibly appealing.
He can maintain friendships as long as he surrounds himself with people who understand he's not into doublespeak and most likely won't show an interest in their personal lives.
CRAU Developments: Both his positive and negative traits have been amplified on this journey. His sense of loyalty and protection has been severly ramped up as he sees his teammates, and by extension the rest of the train, as more people he needs to protect and provide for. Initially he was trying to make himself seem useful when surrounded by people who had magic powers and a lot more combat-oriented skills, but over time he feels genuine affection for those around him. He makes a point to get to know everyone he can, and providing for them when the leadership is too disorganized to handle that, he's found a niche. Still not an extrovert, he also can't sit idly and talking to people serves as a good distraction when his projects can be limited.
Senku has discovered boredom, and he does not care for it. Unlike most people on the train, he maintains a job in the medical car and is at present, the only mundane doctor on board. The fact he isn't a magical powerhouse gets him overlooked in this department, but if illness were ever to strike, it would be right in his wheelhouse. He's tapped into his creativity, and found projects he can do without the foundational buildings he normally has, such as his forge. He's created weapons and tools for people, as well as blankets and winter coats. All of the idle time leaves him restless. He still dreams of exploring the stars one day, after all in space, no one can hear you scream..
On the negative side, his reckless nature has not been reined in at all. He doesn't have the support system he does in the village, where other people will help pick up the slack, and as such he's constantly running headlong into danger because no one else is willing to do so. He finds himself missing the supportive and community nature of home as much as anything else. Senku learned relatively early on that he couldn't leave his things out for community sharing or they might disappear. He doesn't like distrusting his fellow trainmates, but that's the position he finds himself in. He remains forever happy to share anything he has on his person, but he keeps them hidden in his arms band or his room.
The shift of coming from his post-apocalyptic world to this modern version of the train has been a bit of a culture shock in some ways. He finds the synthetic clothing to be nearly unbearably uncomfortable, especially the boots and the pants. He appreciates the abundance of food, comfortable bed and hot showers the best. He dislikes the clothes and being trapped on the train the most. He is constantly pushing himself to learn new things to avoid that pesky boredom and because he's always been an autodidact. His husband has been rather supportive of him finding clothing that he doesn't find terribly uncomfortable and match much closer to his canon outfit, both all the time and on missions, finding him wearing an assortment of kilts, tunics and skirts to match his loose tops.
No one has ever mentioned Senku's clothing choices to him (in canon or otherwise), he's never been asked his opinion on the matter. Mostly, he's decided he's too old not to do what he wants, and since nobody cares he doesn't have to consider the implications that his gender presentation is ambiguous.
Items: Head to toe: A rope tied in his hair in the Ishigami Village style, pulling it up into a ponytail. A platinum necklace that matches his husband's. His canon leather tunic. A beautiful, delicate looking bracelet that also matches his husband's. An Arms Band in the form of a ring on his right ring finger. A utility belt with several leather pouches. His tool pouch presently includes a small bone axe, a bone knife and a bow drill. The other pouches contain a few odds and ends like a pen and pencil, a small packet of a few bites of bear jerky, and one low-level healing potion. A second utility belt with a single pouch on it, this one much more modern containing a pokeball.
The low-level healing potion is from Final Fantasy X canon, and heals a small amount of health.
The pokeball is a dream ball, and contains a level 5 shiny Espurr, a male, named Orion. He was gifted by Eva Iden'no. She is from a 'realistic' pokemon AU, meaning that Orion will evolve on his own when he reaches maturity into a Meowstic. He also learns abilities through maturity and practice, instead of "levelling up" in the traditional way. Orion knows the moves: Leer, Scratch, Confusion, Charm and Fake Out. Orion is only a few months old and is still very much a kitten, just old enough to begin training and combat and Senku is a novice pokemon trainer. He recognizes people through gentle psychic touch to their minds, akin to a gentle tap. Orion's hobbies include knocking things off of shelves, getting tangled in Senku's thread when he's sewing and floating around in the air.
The Arms Band grants the user access to a pocket of hammerspace. Limitations include: You have to remember what you put into it, or it's lost forever. It holds three melee weapons, and one projectile weapon. One must place one piece of ammo for a projectile weapon inside. The Arms Band will turn it into its best possible form and will allow for unlimited ammo in a projectile weapon stored in the band. There is no limitation on the number non-combat items placed into it. Senku does share this item with Gen.

Powers/skills: Senku has exactly zero powers in canon, he's an incredibly normal human. However, Senku has a great deal of skills he brings to the table. Senku's intelligence and knowledge is incredibly high. He's a walking science textbook. His eidetic memory has allowed him to retain and memorize knowledge unlike 99.9% of people. He's studied diligently chemistry, engineering, physics, biology, mathematics, geology and knows how to apply them all. He understand science to the degree he knows every component of everything he knows to the molecule. He has a doctorate level mastery of all the STEM fields - theoretically. All of his practical applications have come through trial and error and very hard work.
His high intelligence and analytical mind allows him to be good at tactics, planning and foresight. He's rarely without some kind of contingency plan. He is confirmed to be fluent Japanese and English, so he's a least bilingual. It seems incredibly likely he also speaks Russian, as he was studying to be a candidate for the astronaut program.
Senku also studied a great deal of medicine. As a teenager, after a distressing conversation with his mentor, he made it his goal to know as much as he could. He traveled to various internships around the world, it's suggested there were eleven of them although only the one in Africa to study Ebola was the only one given any detail. He has demonstrated in canon a comprehensive knowledge of both Western and Eastern medicine as far as treatments go, he's created antibiotics, pain killers and nausea medication, performed surgery, treated a wide variety of wounds and directed surgery on himself. He has been a practicing doctor for roughly four and a half years.
He is capable of using science to create gadgets from the very basic blocks, as inelegant as they are at first, they work. He doesn't have the finesse of a craftsman naturally, but he has learned a great deal from Kaseki in that department which has only improved his skills further. He works incredibly hard, and is willing to put forth the effort for the eventual payoff. He's incredibly focused. He kept track of the passing of time by counting for the entire 3700 years or so. He can also multitask this, something he discovered when he was a child, without losing count of a single second. This skill has come surprisingly in handy in many mathematical calculations. He can do extremely high level mathematics calculations in his head.
Senku is a very competent cook and he makes everything from scratch. Food is often his go to for parts of experiments to test various methods. He's also competent at clothing construction as he makes all of his own clothes normally.
In exchange for the intelligence and focus on knowledge, his stamina and physicality is extremely low for a regular modern teenager. He seems to get physically exhausted quickly and short of breath throughout most of the excursions they undertake. He's not strong - he can't carry nearly as much as other people can either.
Senku has extremely bad luck. It's fortunate he can plan contingencies because if luck is involved - they need them. He need only mention the worst case scenario and that's what they're faced with.
CRAU Developments: Senku learned conversational Dutch out of spite. He has been brute forcing the language learning just like he did English, from an English-Dutch dictionary.
After trying unsuccessfully for months to find a teacher, he was finally gifted a text called Turning Math Into Magic, which detailed a very intricate system of high level mathematical formulae and how to use them to focus his energies into magic. The book contained no more than a few example spells, but rather taught how to create spells. Spells can be as intricate or lacklustre as the magician sees fit as each component requires a different part in the formula to work. The math is used as a focus instead of something more basic as a wand and spell creation requires forethought.
There is no limitation to what kind of spells one create, it just requires intricate, detailed thought.
It took Senku two weeks to learn the system. He has been building his mana since then through practice and use. As his mana grows, the limitations on the spells will lift over time. Basic spell creation takes roughly two weeks of IC time to design and begin practicing the basics. Each level of finesse/boost to what he can do takes an additional two weeks of IC time. (ex. Healing I, Healing II, Healing III)
Current Spells:
Healing: Components include a pale blue light, a sensation of cooling, numbing the wound area for painless healing, blood replenishment, painkilling, leaving behind an energized feeling instead of being completely worn out.
Healing I - Minor cuts and burns. (Currently unlimited in a 24 hour period)
Healing II - Serious injuries like broken bones, but not critical. (Limited to 10 in a 24 hour period)
Healing III - Critical injuries/fatal injuries. (Limited to 3 in a 24 hours period)
Senku can also pinpoint his magic to injuries so instead of a blanket fix, he can target specific body parts/systems thanks to his strong medical background (ie. a migraine). This increases his limits by two if he can pinpoint his powers.
Shield: Components include a silvery, transluscent shield to be manifested, strength and protection against projectiles, flames, attacks and magic.
Shield I - This shield covers a maximum of Senku and someone else. It protects against basic attacks, and requires it be attached to Senku. (No limits - but it is a concentration spell and if he loses focus he loses the shield.)
Enchanting: Components include deriving properties out of items to create potions, medicines and droughts, applying magic spells to items so they can be used by a layperson.
Enchant I - Properties can be derived out of existing items to create potions, medicines and droughts. (ex. Aloe can be used to make a salve to treat burn wounds, at the level of a Healing I spell.) (Limited to 3 in a week)
Senku would like to continue to evolve and create spells within his magical system, as well as refine the spells he's already begun to focus on.
If any of these spells are too powerful and/or there are magics that you might find gamebreaking, I'm more than happy to impose limits.
