Character Name: Senku Ishigami
Age: 3760 (appears 33)
Canon: Dr. STONE
Canon point: End of manga - chapter 232.
History: Science is a long, hard road.
Personality:
Determined - Senku has an internal fortitude that is nearly unmatched by anyone else, that has survived more than three millennia. From every single step from the first chapter to the last, his resolve and determination have carried him through. He began with countin the seconds for over 3700 years, not missing a beat, so he could determine the date when he became ambulatory again. He began nude in the woods and has, with a lot of help, built civilization from the stone age to the modern age with no faltering in his resolve to do so. He encountered many struggles. Many people attempted to stop or assassinate him. He pushed forward to find success. His current accomplishments are not enough. He has saved billions of people but not enough of them. Not all of them. Senku will spend the rest of his life in an effort to account for every member of the 7.6 billion people to be alive and accounted for.
Protective Humanist - Senku follows the principles of humanism. He believes strongly in the abilities of people and has supreme faith in the human race to solve human problems. He demonstrates a protective streak by first wanting to save every single human who was subject to the petrification disaster. He's optimistic and sees intrinsic value in every person. He believes people who have different strengths and abilities can be useful. Despite being a child, when Suika volunteers to help, he accepts her without question. Every member of his village has a task they are suited for. He demonstrates mercy towards his enemies when defeating them in combat. He's not interested in revenge, no, he's far more interested in encouraging them to use their skills for a greater cause, one that involves saving all of humanity. He actively encourages a community where trust is given and one that believes in rehabilitation over punishment. He refuses to adminster any punishments for anyone who wronged him, but rather roped them into his world saving schemes.
Early on, when Tsukasa presses him on the fact the Earth is overpopulated and some of these people will starve, Senku responds simply that every one of those seven billion people just need to come together and find a solution that will work. He admires the deep scientific thinkers of the the past and believes in sharing knowledge for the benefit of humanity as a whole. This is demonstrated both with his constant teaching of the villagers, and the fact that by the end he is collaborating with scientists worldwide, all working together on a common goal of making things better for every society. He believes everyone should help each other, evidenced by everything he does for the village to make their lives better. His actions significantly decreased mortality rates and allowed for the expansion and innovation of science.
Deeply Compassionate - Despite what Senku says, mostly because he finds over acts of affection to be awkward or embarrassing, he's a deeply compassionate person. His strong love for humanity is what drives his humanist ideals. As a child, a single thought experiment about what would happen if biological weapons were unleashed led him to a conclusion that he needed to focus on and learn medicine - so he could save people. Upon meeting Kohaku and learning that her sister is sick, he makes the re-creation of antibiotics to be the supreme concern for the time being. He didn't know either of them. Over the course of the series, as the only doctor he has been required to treat the living humans as they were all his patients. This extended without question to his enemy Tsukasa, when Hyoga attempted to kill him. He often makes excuses that seem self-beneficial when really he's trying to do something nice for others. He installed heating in the huts under the guise of needing the tar that was left over. This allowed for villagers to have a warm refuge and warm meals instead of deaths from exposure. He created a vehicle large enough to travel to the Kingdom of Might because he knew that the older villagers could not walk the 80 kilometre distance. He focuses on more food production after hearing that starvation is very much a problem in the village. He can seem distant, but he has everyone's best interests at heart and he can feel some deep, very real guilt. He felt guilty over involving the village in their first conflict, and he felt just as guilty for lying to people to avoid bloodshed. Especially when they discovered that America was in fact, not fine and thriving like he'd said at the time. He claims that the ends can justify the means at times, but that's a lie. He's always looking for a third option when presented with two choices.
Socially Awkward / Blunt - Senku can be incredibly socially awkward and blunt, to a point that could be off-putting if one didn't know him. There's never any malice or upset in his bluntness, at most one could get sarcasm out of him. It can take people a good deal of time to warm up to him, but once they realize that's just how he is things go much better. In low stake matters, any woman that flirts with him gets shut down immediately. He's very blunt that he's not interested. Nikki saying she could fall for him simply has him saying 'please don't'. He is a horrible negotiator. His tactic for negotiation is simply tell him what they want and he'll give it to them. He has no patience at all for nuance or discussion. He prefers things to be said in the quickest manner. Gen demostrates his frustration with this constantly. He alludes to them having several discussions on the matter. He's not overly attuned to the feelings of others. A girl trying to flirt with him and ask him what kind of girl he likes gets an answer like 'a woman who can power a forge'. When Kohaku gives him a hug, he allows it but doesn't respond. He doesn't like physical touch or people crowding him to the point he's relented and allowed for high fives and fist bumps. Every time Taiju tries to hug him, he ducks and often retaliates by punching his best friend. These simple gestures of light affection are highly coveted because he's so awkward, that if he's making the effort to give high fives out it's a reward for a job well done. The most likely response to expressing one's feelings to Senku is to be met with silence as he doesn't really know how to address that, and heartfelt compliments he complains are cringy.
Recklessness/Impulse Control - Senku can be very reckless in the name of science, and part of that is due to poor impulse control. Although it may seem contradictory to his steadfast determination and concentration, his recklessness and impulses tend to feed into his other traits. Some of his bluntness comes from the inability to control his impulse to get things done, especially surrounding negotiations. If he can give them what they want, why shouldn't he? It's just faster. He claims not to be self-sacrificial and he certainly intends not to be, but he was completely ready to take a one way trip to the moon and left to his likely demise to save humanity. While he isn't ready to die for the cause, he's very ready to take risks and he would risk himself above everyone else.. He allowed Tsukasa to kill him very early on to test a hypothesis that the petrification had healing properties. He also learned further how the petrification worked on Treasure Island by throwing the fluid up in the air to splash back and stop the petrification process, using himself as a test subject. Senku demontrated both by asking Whyman to negotiate alone, something excessively dangerous, and said talks broke down mainly because he just wanted to ask about their futuristic technology that he didn't understand. He couldn't help himself. His deep, innate desire to seek knowledge sometimes makes him seem oblivious to how others feel because he can't seem to help himself. Even in the past, as a child, the persuit of knowledge was what he focused on during class time and it made him openly disruptive because he couldn't help but blurt out something he was studying.
Suitability: Senku would be cooperative for a few reasons. While he does not believe in the supernatural as a baseline, he'd be fascinated by living proof that there are supernatural happenings. He's also worked within an apocalypse-like setting, and he's far more interested in seeking the truth than just wandering off and ignoring the problems. Beyond that, just because these humans are not his humans, it doesn't mean he isn't interested in saving them all.
Powers/Abilities: Hold on tight, we're in for a ride.
Senku has no supernatural powers, but he does have a lot of mundane skills and abilities.
Innate:
Intelligence: Senku is vastly intelligent. He's the kind of person who can blow an IQ test right out of the water and never look back. Notably the most intelligent character in the series, it's demonstrated on a constant basis. Aside from raw memory, his capacity for analysis allows for serious development and innovation.
Eidetic memory: Senku has the ability not just to apply what he's read but remember it with precise detail, an impressive feat considering the textbooks and journals he read were well over 3700 years ago.
Supreme discipline/concentration: Senku is able to hyperfocus on anything he finds interesting or even just critical to what he needs to know. The best application of this was when petrified and meant to be in stasis, Senku's mind remained active as he counted each second for thousands of years so he would know what the date was when he was back on his feet.
Acquired:
Medical: Senku has the skills of a general practitioner/general surgeon. He has a vast knowledge of anatomy and treaments, both in Eastern and Western medicine. He can diagnose problems, perform procedures and even talk people through surgery if he must. He was the only doctor, and he had approximately 150-200 patients for some time between 6-10 years before he retired, finally replaced.
Scientific Disciplines: Scoffing at the "soft sciences", Senku has studied each of the 'hard' sciences extensively including chemistry, biology, physics, geology, medicine, cosmology, astronomy, botony, meteorology, oceanograpy and ecology. Not just the disciplines themselves, but the entire history of how each technological development came to pass, and how to innovate for a sustainable future. He is spearheading the post-2019 scientific world and looking to develop the scientific disciplines of the future. He is the lead scientist studying the parasitic AI, the petrification phenomenon and the cure which he developed. His current project in development is in the foundation of time travel.
Survival Skills: One can drop Senku naked in the woods and he'll build you a modern civilization. He can start a fire, make tools, provide food, water and make a shelter as well as means of protection. He uses his scientific knowledge to identify plants and trees he can use. He can also make traps to deal with animals, and he can fish. Lastly, he can craft clothing and pottery so it would be a semi-comfortable camping trip by the time he's done.
Invention/Innovation: Senku falls heavier on the innovation side of things. He isn't the type to come up with a ton of inventions, but rather fine tune things to fix specific problems. That is not to say he can't invent things, he's invented a TENS suit for swimming training, the revival fluid and is working on a time machine, but he's more task-oriented over being wildly creative.
Languages: Senku is completely fluent in both Japanese and English. It is extremely highly probable he has some proficiency in Russian. Senku is proficient in several cyphers as well, most notably Morse code and Uesugi code system.
Mathematics: Senku can't just do high level mathematics, he can do it in his head. This includes complex formulae for physics purposes. He can compete fairly well in basic PEMDAS against a calculator, to a certain point. Anything else he can do on paper, unless it requires a super computer. It's not instant, the more complex it is, it might take him a minute.
Engineering: Senku can design, create and repair just about anything in his knowledge base. He can work with wood, metal, glass, electric components, even rocket fuel. He's created far too many things to list, including a variety of vehicles, buildings, rockets, medical supplies...These skills include an ability for technical drawing, meaning he's a decent artist when he wants to be.
Technology: He can not only create and design computer components from scratch, but he can also code and hack, demonstrated by his ability to hack into the university's super computer at nine years old.
Leadership: He has a unique style of leadership where the protection of his people is paramount to anything else, and he strongly values community and making sure everyone has a place in it. He's a very strong delegator, and defers to people who know more on a given subject than him. Not the most demonstrative, his most coveted display of affection is a high five. He holds a great deal of authority and sway, thanks to his knowledgeable position. He is very highly respected and well-liked, and most of all he's willing to make the most difficult decisions.
Other: Senku has honed a variety of other skills including cooking, navigation and sewing. He's also an excellent and patient teacher, to the point that Gen comments he missed when Senku explained things to him. He has the ability to break concepts down and build a person's knowledge up from the first step. He has horribly awful luck, notoriously so. He also has an inability to hold a grudge which means he forgives any slight against him, and extends friendship instead. This strange ability is foundational to the series without being actually magically based.
The only skill that likely requires nerfing is possibly hacking. He has not cracked time travel yet, nor will he have his pet AI due to a restriction on futuristic technology. If there is anything of concern in his abilities, please let me know.
Entity Affinity: Possible choices for future affinity:
The Eye: An affinity that Senku would be drawn to for his unquenchable thirst for knowledge to begin with. He desires to know everything about the world around him and the intricacies of how everything works. He would use his trusting nature to his advantage by extending it to an intended victim in an effort to get them to share information with him. His vast wealth of knowledge will help him seem like a credible authority. Watching people and observing them is not out of the question, even to the point they may feel uncomfortable - and yet Senku would probably be oblivious to this. He would feed his patron without effort, or perhaps intent.
The Vast: Senku does not have this fear, but he can induce it in others unintentionally. Senku talks often about the vastness of the universe and how insignificant he is - while accepting his own accomplishments. Anyone who hasn't done what he has would feel if he's insignificant, then what might they be? Like the other affinity, Senku wouldn't do it intentionally, but he would probably do it frequently. He's a strong advocate for sustainable living and the powerful natural forces that could bring about destruction in the face of puny humans.
Inventory: A crisp white labcoat, a lavender paisley tie, a pale blue button down shirt, black slacks, a leather belt, black loafers. A cape with a leather clasp. A rope anklet. Hooked into his belt, at his back, is a survival knife in a leather pouch. Clipped inside the pocket of his labcoat is his ID. He has a black leather wallet, with dragos inside. His other pocket has a pair of energy bars wrapped in wax paper instead of packaging. In the front pocket, he has two pens.
